The head and neck region is one of the most complex parts of the human body in terms of its anatomy, function, and varied histology. It is therefore no surprise that a plethora of ailments and disease processes are found within the head and neck. Although for many centuries surgery has been the primary mode of treatment of head and neck neoplasms, over the past many decades radiation and chemotherapy have added many advantages to optimal treatment.

As one would expect, the treatment of head and neck cancers is tremendously challenging. This is why it is imperative that your care is in the hands of highly trained professionals. We have assembled a team of specialists to care for you in this journey. With your primary care physician we ensure that your care is well coordinated and optimally executed.

It all begins with a clinical suspicion confirmed by a biopsy. Once a diagnosis is made, a mode of treatment must be elected based on patient’s overall health, wishes, and site and extent of disease. This is then followed by reconstructive surgery if required, ancillary treatments such as speech and swallow therapy and physical therapy and then patient is then followed through close surveillance. The process is complicated and for optimal outcomes it is crucial that you have a team of professionals by your side who will guide you through every step of the way. The case of head and neck cancers can be varied but are most correlated with alcohol consumption, tobacco, and viruses such as Epstein-Barr and HPV. There are epidemiological data regarding regional distribution of disease as well.

We diagnose and treat all tumors related to the head and neck regions, including:

Patient education starts at the first visit. Beating cancer is a team effort and it is through educating our patients about their condition that we can work together in becoming successful in treatment.

We provide long-term follow up and surveillance to ensure our patients are cancer free, and to be able to detect any unusual finding as soon as possible! The long-term follow up is just as important -if not more important- as the initial therapy.
